José Miguel Atienza

Academic Background
Mr. Miguel Atienza holds a MSc in Civil Engineering (Roads, Canals, Ports) and a BSc in Materials Engineering (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). He has a PhD in Civil Engineering (UPM).

Professional Experience
Mr. José Miguel Atienza has more than 17 years of experience in the Academy and the University world. He has developed functions as Deputy Director of the Industrial Engineering School (UPM). He currently holds the position as Vice Chancellor of the Industrial Engineering School (UPM).

Mr. José Miguel Atienza is also part of the Research Team of the University and writes numerous scientific papers.

Isabel Ortiz Marcos

Mrs. Isabel Ortiz holds a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD (Technical University of Madrid, UPM), as well as a Master´s in Total Quality Management (SGS and UPM). She is certified as a Project Management Professional since 2006 (PMI).

Professional Experience
Mrs. Isabel Ortiz worked as a consultant for Safety and Quality Issues at SGS for four years. Currently, she is Associate Professor at UPM and Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic and International Planning. She is the Dean of the Leadership and Technology Center in UPM.

Mr. Santiago Castagnino is a Managing Director & Partner at Boston Consulting Group. He leads BCG’s Infrastructure Sector in Europe and Latin America, and the Engineering & Construction topic globally. Before joining BCG, Mr. Santiago Castagnino worked for the Telefonica Group in the US, Spain and Latin America, developing technology startups.

Professional Experience

Mr. Ulises Wensell has worked for 2 years as a Researcher in Transport Engineering (UPM), as a Consultant on Transport Planning for 10 years and for 13 years in ACCIONA Concessions as the Manager of Demand, Traffic and Revenue Studies, the department which he is currently the head of.

Mr. Ulises Wensell has a wide international experience in 17 countries, having collaborated in Revenue Estimation, Risk and Feasibility Assessment in the Procurement and Initiative of more than 110 projects for ACCIONA.

She also holds an Executive MBA in Sustainable Global Business (MBA ACCIONA) (EOI Business School).

Mrs. Elena Rodriguez Borobio has worked as an Engineer and Project Manager in Initec Energia.

From 2008, she has been carrying out functions as Digital Transformation and Technical and Guarantee Performance Engineering Manager.

Professional Experience
Mrs. Ruth Carrasco has worked as an Associate Professor at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid since 2011. She is also Associate Director for the Sustainable Development Goals at Industrial Engineering School (UPM) since 2017. She has experience as Supply Chain Digitalization Technician for L’Oreal. She has an International PhD by UPM and she is also part of the Research Team Supply Chain Ecosystems Management; Circular Economy & Design of Circular Products, Services and Business Models Socially & Environmentally Sustainable Supply Chains (ELCA & SLCA); Humanitarian Logistics; Cross-Sector Partnerships.

Professional Experience
Mr. Romero is a Civil Engineer with 11 years of proven experience in the field of public works in important companies in positions of Project Manager, Production Manager, Project Control Manager and Planning Manager. Accustomed to work in teams in a multicultural environment with more than 30 nationalities over the world. Managing and leading a team of up to 45 people directly and around 250 people indirectly. He has been the Head of Planning & Scheduling Department in Acciona Construction Division since 2015. He is also a member of Technical Leaders Team in ACCIONA (Exclusive group of ACCIONA professionals whose mission is to lead the knowledge of the key specialties for business). Before Mr Romero was Project Control Manager in an international multibillion project for 4 years and he was also involved in the construction of different projects related to rail infrastructure in Spain having different roles like Project Manager or Head or Production.

Mr. José Valén holds a MSc Mechanical Engineer degree, University of Zaragoza, and a master’s degree in Buildings and Business Management, Centro Superior de Arquitectura.

Professional Experience

Since 1994, Mr José Valén has been working for ACCIONA. His professional career in ACCIONA started as Business Development Manager – Middle East and South East Asia. Since then, he has successfully played different roles in the international construction business, including Deputy Project Manager – Manila Clark Railway, Procurement Manager – Gilgel Gibe Dam, Deputy General Manager – Hong Kong Branch, Business Development Director – International Construction, Contract Administration Director – Civil Works and, currently, Tender Process and Contract Management Director – Infrastructure. He has also served as board member in several international subsidiaries (Malaysia, US, Australia) and as ACCIONA’s representative in Steering and Management Committees for major international construction projects (Legacy Way in Brisbane, Follo Line in Oslo, East West Link tender in Melbourne). His experience and knowledge of business in the international area is extraordinary.

Mr. Fabrizio Tesolato has more than 30 years experience managing projects, programs and portfolios on O&G, LNG and Energy sector in the worldwide market.
He has Project Management experience in almost all key position in both projects and organizations, as Cost Control, Project Control, Business Management, Project Management, Project Sponsor and Managing Director.

Mr. Fabrizio Tesolato also has wide range of teaching experience in both Open and In-Company Training Courses, and Executive Education on Project and Contract Management Related Competences.

Mr. Vicente Alcaraz is currently an Applied Economics Professor at Madrid’s Polytechnic University. He has experience in Investment Banking and Management Consulting, having undertaken projects in Latin America, Europe and South-East Asia. Over the last decade, he has focused on public procurement and PPPs, acting as an advisor to the public and private sector in transactions exceeding 10 billion EUR.

Mr. Juan Molina started as a Design Engineer in the field of Special Foundations and worked as a Project Manager for over 15 years. He is now specialized in Public Private Partnerships, focusing on the preparation and assessment of projects in Europe, Latin America and Asia. He is currently, Assistant Professor at Madrid Polytechnic University and collaborates with multiple multilateral institutions, public bodies and private institutions providing training in the field of PPP.

Mr. Pablo Yáñez has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Health & Safety occupying different positions of responsibility in different geographic areas. He has been member of many commissions such as the Health and Safety Commission of the CEOE, the Health and Safety Commission of the CEOE or the PRL commission of SEOPAN.

He currently Works as a Global Health & Safety Director for Infrastructure, ACCIONA. Mr. Pablo Yáñez has also an active participation with public and private institutions of international scope with participation in some of its organs.

With more than 20 years’ experience as a Consultant in the Human Resource Area, working in Price Waterhouse Coopers and Vodafone Companies, Mr. Juan Manuel Cruz has extensive knowledge of the HR Process, Labour Relations and People Management. Dr. Marquez received his MSc and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering (UPM, 1994 and 1998). He is currently a full-time Professor in the Dep. of Mechanical Engineering at ETSII-UPM.

Professional Experience
His research work focuses on the Design and Development of High Precision Manufacturing Systems and Polymer Microfabrication Technologies. He has led two research projects in the area of MEMS Micromanufacturing, and he has participated as Associate Researcher in many others. He has led Education Innovation Projects funded by UPM, and currently, he is the Head of Education Innovation Group of Manufacturing Engineering. He has been a visiting professor at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) in 1996, 2005 and 2009. He is the Vice-Dean for Internationalization at ETSII-UPM since 2011, and the T.I.M.E. Association UPM delegate since 2018, currently Vice-President.

Mr. Jon Lasa has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Universidad of Deusto in Bilbao. He holds an Executive Program PDG in the IESE (2019). He also has a Labour Master´s Degree in Garrigues Business School (2010) and a Human Resources Degree in Garrigues Business School (2003).

Professional Experience
Executive with more than 17 years’ experience managing teams in different business models and sectors. He joined Acciona in 2015 and he is an experienced Group Director with a demonstrated history of working in the infrastructure, renewables and environment industry. Skilled in Human Resources Policies, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Development, Incentives and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). Strong business development professional. Mr. Jon Lasa has a wide professional career having been Head of Compensation, Benefits and Administration in Prisa Group, Project manager in Willis Towers Watson consultancy firm and Tax lawyer in Arthur Andersen – Garrigues.

Jose Luis Blasco

Mr. José Luis Blasco has a Master Business Administration by IE Business School. He is graduated in Chemical Science, Materials Engineering (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).

Professional Experience
Mr. José Luis joined ACCIONA at 2019 as Global Director of Sustainability. In addition, he is a member and one of the four rapporteurs – of the Group of Experts in Sustainable Finance of the European Commission. In 2003 he joined KPMG to lead the sustainability department in Spain. He was responsible for the Government, Risks and Compliance departments, until he was elected Global Head of this discipline. Mr. José Luis Blasco also was Director in the Central Department of the Red Cross, Internal Auditor of the National Westminster Bank and Director in the NatWest Spain, Teneo and Environment Foundations. He has a degree in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid and has more than 20 years of experience in management, development and independent review of business responsibilities. Mr. José Luis Blasco combines his professional work, teaching in different universities and business schools.

Professional Experience
Executive with more than 15 years’ experience in business analysis, corporate development, corporate finance and treasury, Juan Cruz Mendezona is currently Business Development Analysis Director of Infrastructure.
He has been member of several Steering Committees and Board Member of several affiliates during his career. Mr. Mendezona has strong international mentality as he has been doing business development and project financing for ACCIONA´s projects over the world.
He joined Acciona in 2006 as Corporate Finance Director of Acciona Agua (previously Pridesa). Later he moved to the Corporation as Finance Manager. In 2014 he was appointed Treasury & Corporate Finance Director at Acciona Energia.

Samuel Matarranz

Samuel Matarranz is a Civil Engineer by Polytechnic University of Madrid (2002), Master in Infrastructure and Facilities Management (2016), Master in Project Management by the UPM (2009,No. 1 promotion) certified by the Project Management PMP Institute (2009) and urban sustainability BREEAM Consultant (2012).


He teached at the Polytechnic University of Madrid in the MAGIPIC (Master in Project Management) and EAE and OBS in the Master in Project Management.

Professional Experience
Throughout his career he has specialized in Management of large projects of architecture and urban development, especially in the Real Estate sector.

Currently is Centre Regional Manager of the Real Estate Division in ACCIONA.
During 4 years he was Development Manager in AEDAS HOMES, residential development company leader in Spain. The previous 8 years he was dedicated to manage projects (technical, schedule & financial) in an international prestigious consulting group (TYPSA) with experience and stays abroad (Brazil, Saudi Arabia) and being the business developer of the Architecture & Cities Division.

Mr. Breyer holds a Doctorate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Tübingen University, Germany. He is also a registered European lawyer in Vienna from the Munich Chamber of Lawyers.

Mr. Dr. Breyer is Expert in International and German construction contracts (in particular FIDIC). He is also a leader in International construction arbitration and litigation (ICC, DIS, LCIA, UNCITRAL and all other arbitration rules). He has an extensive representation in International adjudication and disputes resolution board under FIDIC contracts He has worked as a Construction risk management advisor– providing On-Time | On-budget consulting advice for construction and major projects. Mr. Dr. Breyer has experience in PPC 2000 and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). He is the Creator and Practice Director of the Masters Program, “International Construction: Law and Practice” (MBE) at the University of Stuttgart (Germany). He is also Lecturer for the Construction Law program at the King´s College, London (United Kingdom) and Lecturer at Peking Law School for international Construction Law.

Mr. Ole Jonny Klakegg has a MSc in Civil Engineering (Norwegian University of Technology, 1987) and a PhD in Project Governance (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, 2010).

Professional Experience
Ole Jonny Klakegg has 31 years of experience in research, teaching and consulting within project management. He has worked in several periods at the university (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and different consultancy companies in Norway. Currently he has a full time position as Professor at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and as Special Advisor at WSP Norway (20% position). He has experience from involvement in a large number of major projects in Norway in several sectors and industries, including building, civil engineering, transport, health, defence, organisational development and telecom/computer technology. He has 18 years’ experience as middle manager and consultant in private sector.

Eilif Hjelseth

Academic Background
Eilif Hjelseth is professor in Building Information Modelling (BIM) at Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (UPM), Engineering degree in Computer Science (UPM) and Master’s Degree in Project Management. He is a Prince 2) by PMI. He speaks English, and some German in addition to Scandinavian, Norwegian is native language.

Professional Experience
He focuses on improving design, construction and facility management by utilisation of digital technology to enable improved processes. He has experience form the AEC/FM industry and in software development, Standards Norway and the Norwegian Building Authority. As ISO-expert, he has participated in development of BIM based standards (from ISO 29481-series (IDM) from 2010 to ISO 19650 Information management series. He has developed multiple BIM based courses, including a Master program in Digital construction processes. He is head of the Norwegian VDC program with over 200 students in the one-year certification course. BIM-based model checking is one of his priorities research domains. Academic Background
Mr. Carlos Arilla holds a Law degree from Universidad de Navarra. He also has a Master’s in Business Administration from ESADE.

Professional Experience

Mr. Carlos Arilla’s present role is the COO of the Infrastructure Division. Carlos joined ACCIONA in 2006 as CFO of Acciona Water (previously Pridesa). Later he moved to the Corporation as Group Economic Controller and in 2013 he was appointed Acciona Group CFO.

Mr. Carlos Arilla held the financial responsibility in Spain of the Canadian real estate Trizechahn Corporation (2000-2002), the Spanish subsidiaries of the GEA Group AG (1993-1999) and worked as banking analyst for BNP Spain (1990-1992).
